Situated in the centre of the historical town of Hydra, the Cotommatae 1810 Guest House is a traditional Hydrian Mansion which has been turned into a charming boutique hotel. It features 5 lovely suites and 2 rooms, each one boasting distinctive decoration and tastefully combining historical elements with comfortable and modern amenities. Each suite and room also has its own name, inspired by the rich history of the mansion and the island.

Historic Hotel

The mansion is said to have been built at around 1810 by Lazaros Kountouriotis, one of the most distinguished residents of the island, as dowry for his daughter. In 1901, the mansion was purchased by Kotommatis, a ship owner and successful sponge merchant at the time, whose name was also given to the hotel. He travelled extensively due to his job and brought back home antique furniture and art pieces that still exist today at the hotel, being part of its distinctive atmosphere and charm.

You can make your choice from the variety of or the rocky seaside places in order to enjoy the clear like crystal seawater of the island. There are sandy beaches and others with pebbles, but the majority along the coast is rocky. Access to such places could be done either on foot or by boats and the so called sea taxis. Cotommatae Hydra 1810 is a beautiful old palace located in the heart of Hydra's historic district. The location is perfect for those who want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the harbor area yet still in very close proximity to port and restaurants. The great location - less than 10 minutes walk to the port is highly appreciated by guests. Spectacular views and convenience also add to the charm of this location. The hotel is situated on a beautiful terrace which gives amazing comfort and an amazing view. The silence around adds to the tranquility of the place. The great location allows for easy walking distance to everything that one could need or want. It is the best place to stay in Hydra and is the perfect spot for a week in Hydra. The place feels chic but not posh which is highly appreciated by guests. Overall, this historic location is highly recommended as it is conveniently located à deux pas du port (a stone's throw from the port).

While most of the rooms are superb and comfortable, guests should avoid rooms in front of reception, as they might be noisy and open to the view of the vicinity. The standard rooms are relatively small but still very comfortable and fully equipped with slippers, bathrobes, toiletries, coffee maker and a TV. Overall, this property has a simple yet stylish charm that could make guests feel incredibly comfortable by staying here.
