The former Hotel „Wentz“ had been bought by the Hotelier Paul Eisele in 1893 and is since property of the family Eisele- Mulzer. Today’s owner is the grand-grand niece of Paul Eisele, Nanà Marie-Luise Mulzer, and her son Axel Rötzer-Reil is currently managing the hotel.

The hotel had been build in historicism by Konradin Walther assisted by Peter Behrens, Germany’s most significant representative of Art Nouveau

Hotel Deutscher Kaiser used to belong to masons, which is why it is named after the Bavarian emperor Louis IV (German: Ludwig; 1282 - 1347) who was King of the Romans from 1314, King of Italy from 1327, and Holy Roman Emperor from 1328.
